After 10 years at Business Day Cara was headhunted to become part of the team which launched Destiny magazine. Her role as Business Editor at Destiny magazine opened doors into the heart of South Africa’s business world, providing access to the many men and women driving economic development both in Africa and on the world stage.
In 2009 Cara branched out on her own to form Crazy Grape Media, a freelance writing and editing company which builds on the reputation for excellence, quality journalism and professional writing which Cara has developed throughout her career. Through Crazy Grape Media, Cara also undertakes various freelance commissions and magazine editing projects as well as work for major corporate and academic clients. She currently edits FNB Private Client’s in-house publication, Private Life; is Deputy Editor of Strategic Marketing Africa and writes for titles including Strategic Marketing, Sawubona and Acumen magazines. Cara counts among her clients the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), Standard Bank Private Clients, Eish Digital, Ndalo Media and SRK Consulting.
October 2013 saw the launch of Behind the Green Veil: Reflections on Sustainability, a publication Cara co-edited with Claire Thwaits of GIBS’s Transnet Programme in Sustainable Development.
Gaye Crossley is a writer, entrepreneur and sustainability enthusiast who has lived and worked in a number of countries around the world, including Bahrain, Australia, England, Ireland and New Zealand. She has written for South African publications such as Sawubona magazine, SAA’s in-flight magazine; Business Day; FNB Private Clients’ Private Life magazine; African Entrepreneur, The Foschini Group’s MAN magazine and SAB Leaders.
Under the Crazy Grape Media banner she also works for a variety of corporate clients, undertaking copyediting and writing projects as well as book editing and proofreading.
Gaye has a B.Com degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
